What does a BrainTap session look like?

The experience of BrainTap is unlike any other meditation program on the market. The sessions combine a syncing of brainwave technology, light and sound frequencies, spoken guidance, and binaural beats specifically designed to help you meditate more effectively without the struggle.

Our brains are actually divided into 6 distinct frequency zones – similar to the gears of a bicycle. Each gear represents a specific range of brain frequency, from the lowest gear (Beta) where we’re engaged and focused, to Delta which is associated with deep sleep and rejuvenation.

The most elusive state is the Alpha-Theta border which has been referred to as the “Bridges of Creation”. It’s here that many scientists believe our greatest problem-solving occurs. Unfortunately, we rarely reach this zone during our waking hours because it’s so difficult to achieve.

During a session, you wear headphones that play special audio tones that guide your brain into specific states of consciousness. You will select a program for the session, each of which is designed to lead you through different frequency patterns. Once you have the BrainTap headset on, your device will give you a countdown, then start playing your session. These sounds activate your brain’s natural electrical frequencies and help you enter specific brain states, like alpha, theta, or delta. You will hear some pulsing tones in the background. This is called binaural beats. You will see pulsing lights synchronized with the audio frequencies from your headphones. These patterns go deep into your subconscious mind and can help the body and mind re-balance itself. The whole session is only 30 minutes long.

Does BrainTap help reduce stress?

Stress, anxiety, and depression are linked to the body’s sympathetic nervous system, the part of your autonomic nervous system that initiates the fight-or-flight response. Major stressors can trigger the release of the stress hormone cortisol in your body, causing physical reactions including increased heart rate, blood pressure, muscle tension, and reduced blood flow to the digestive system. This is helpful when you’re facing a major stressor like a car accident or other threat—it’s what keeps you alive. The body naturally responds to stress with the fight-or-flight response. But over time, chronic stress can lead to high levels of stress hormones, which have been linked to insomnia, increased blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease.
